Chapter 16

June 21, 2020

??WhaleTale Lockdown??

Dear Inmates, the standoff between Mr Mole and Kaal-Ou came to a grand finale yesterday afternoon. It’s now the start of our rainy season, and you can hear the grass grow!

As he was busy with the lawn, Mr Mole decided it was the right time to make his appearance from down under and meet his new landlord. His cold shoulder attitude towards Kaal-Ou since we moved in, allowed animosity to set in from the landlord’s side. We were stunned by Mr Mole’s unannounced visitation!

I was busy in the kitchen when I heard his urgent call from the garden. We all gathered around Mr Mole. We were utterly intrigued by this feisty little fellow showing no fear to leave his safe abode to meet the family. As I was watching him allowing the poodles to sniff him over, I wondered what brought about this change of heart? It must be the gospel music we play during the day that travelled underground via his tunnels that had an impact.?

We told Mr Mole we would gladly help him to relocate immediately to the green conservation corridor just two houses from us. While he was still busy to convey his feelings over our decision to move him, he was on the receiving end of the cold shoulder. With two buckets ready, the trek back to the wild was in full swing!?????

We placed his furry little body in the bucket and set off for the greenbelt. As we marched down, he attempted an escape and landed on the tar road. As we placed him back in the bucket, I noticed that his body was one piece of muscle. The digging action of excavating underground tunnels and his high protein diet afforded him a body like the muscle men spotted on our beach. Regular exercises with correct dieting do pay off even in the animal kingdom.

With much-ballyhooed, we dropped Mr Mole off in the greenbelt. He left the bucket with a slight hesitation, a short goodbye and walked off into the sunset towards his new future. Surrounded by wildlife, plenty of insects and fertile soil, he can dig to his heart’s desires and keep his fitness level. We returned to our yard happy as we feel both parties received what they needed.?Hallelujah!

Happy Fathersday wishes to all our amazing Dad’s.  Today is also the shortest day of the year. And from tomorrow summer is on its way, baby!☀️
