Dear Friends, it has been two months now since we left our beloved Jozi, and life still goes on here in the beautiful Overstrand. We have settled in and feel the benefits of a more country/coastal layback lifestyle. We are thoroughly enjoying it!
Saturday mornings are the 5 km Hermanus park run along Camphill Road in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The route is picturesque on a hillside trail, through a forest path, and back to the starting point. All shapes and sizes join in the park run, including a good number of doggies.
The wheels are turning again on our mountain bikes as we are exploring the many off-road cycling routes. I have also finished my 5 private sessions of Pilates successfully, and I’m now part of a group class. Let the change continue.
Shopping is a pleasure as we find the shop assistants very friendly, helpful and attentive. They make you feel you are important as a customer. From the small boutique on the street corner to the big chain store in the Mall.
We have familiarized ourselves with our local wines by visiting the stunning wine farms to participate in wine tastings, wine & chocolate pairing and even wine and jam pairing. The various markets & festivals are now in full swing as they anticipate cashing in on the Vaalies (my favourite people), who are now arriving in droves. And rightfully so, as the food, wine, craft beer and everything else that is craft is excellent.
In the meantime, the weather changed for the better, and the sun is shining, the beaches are clean, the sand is white, the ocean deep blue with bikini bodies and muscle men galore. There is an “ek soek ‘n Piña Colada op ‘n wit strand” holiday vibe everywhere as the holidaymakers invade. Fires are lit, the smell of braaivleis hanging in the air, people walking and talking hand in hand, kids and adults on their bikes, children playing in the parks, and the sound of music drifting through your windows as everyone is having a fabulous time. The coastal footpath is slightly congested with joggers, walkers and fur paws enjoying the sea scenery. Thankfully the days here are much longer as sunset is nearly at 8 pm?
The Western Cape is also affected by load-shedding, like the rest of the country. Eish! It is a reminder that we are still plugged into the Mother Ship.
We are thankful for the rain in dry areas of our country?
Only 5 more sleeps before we head out to CT airport to collect an exceptional parcel from Berario. We are so excited to have our lovely daughter with us. Whoop whoop! We are truly looking forward to this sea holiday spending it together as a family. We are also looking forward to family and friends that will visit us and are grateful for those who already came to see us. How blessed we are!
I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a refreshing and blessed Christmas season. Thank you for your love and support towards us as a family. We love and appreciate you all.
